After graduation, students may continue to pursue their degree at the University of Michigan-Flint or transfer their credits to an alternate college or university of their choice.CHICAGO (June 29, 2023) - In its 38th year of honoring the nation's best high school athletes, Gatorade today announced Issam Asinga of Montverde Academy is the 2022-23 Gatorade Florida Boys Track & Field Player of the Year.Upon completion, students will be 1/3 of the way toward a bachelor degree.Students will attend college courses taught by college professors.Students will be required to adhere to both the Grand Blanc High School calendar and the Grand Blanc Early College calendar.Student transportation is required for the 13th year college courses.Students must commit to a 3 year early college program (5 year high school graduation).Reduced financial burden on families sending students to college.Participants may be eligible for the GBEC scholarship.Students maintain the ability to participate in HS sports (9th-12th) and after-school activities.Completing college courses on the high school campus eases the transition from high school to college with a dedicated support staff to mentor and guide students.Attend college courses on the Grand Blanc High School campus taught by University of Michigan-Flint professors.Earn college credit while attending high school.Students may select courses geared toward a specific degree during their 13th year of the GB Early College program. Students will transition to the college campus during their 13th year.Ĭollege courses during the 11th and 12th grade will focus on general education courses required for a four year/bachelor degree. Junior and Senior students will take their high school and college classes (taught by college professors) on the campus of Grand Blanc High School. Students who choose to participate in this unique opportunity will commit to a five year high school and college experience. ![]() This exclusive opportunity is available to Grand Blanc High School students entering Junior status beginning with the 2015-2016 school year. Grand Blanc High School, in partnership with the University of Michigan-Flint, opened the Grand Blanc Early College (GBEC) during the 2015-2016 school year. Students are eligible for student aid once they successfully graduate from high school. Financial Aid - GBEC students are not eligible for financial aid to pay for their college courses.Diplomas will not be released until balances are paid in full.All payments will be made directly to UM-Flint. GBEC tuition will no longer be paid through SchoolPay.Billing will indicate that it is for Grand Blanc Early College classes.The entire billing process listed above will be repeated for the Winter Term.The student must pay their Winter bill in order to receive their official transcripts. The student will need to pay their bill, before they are able to register for the Winter Term.The University will then notify students their bill is due.The University will deduct the amount the district paid from each student’s bill.The district will indicate how much they intend to pay for each student depending on the State of Michigan foundation allowance and how many high school classes an early college student is enrolled in.After the fall semester begins, the University will contact each district with a student list and ask what they intend to pay towards each student’s bill.The school district will no longer collect payments from students for their portion of tuition and fees owed the University.
